In brief
I was sitting with a founder last week when the advice stopped working. She runs a small studio and she was doing everything right. Posting daily, following up fast, running the plays everyone hands you when you're trying to fill your calendar.

I was sitting with a founder last week when the advice stopped working.
She runs a small studio and she was doing everything right. Posting daily, following up fast, running the plays everyone hands you when you're trying to fill your calendar. And it was working. Until it wasn't. Right in front of me, mid-call, she pulls up her numbers and just goes "see? I did all the things."
And she did. That's the part that stuck with me.
The cleanest recommendations just don't land the same way anymore. Not because the advice got worse, but because the whole feed got louder and the person on the other end got better at spotting a pitch. Here's what I keep noticing instead, working with founders who run lean:
→ Posting more isn't the fix. Posting the one specific thing only they can say is.
→ Speed of follow-up still matters, but a fast reply that sounds like everyone else's fast reply is just noise delivered faster.
→ The offer that closes is almost never the fanciest one. It's the one that names the exact problem in the exact words the client already used.
→ A system that runs without you isn't a luxury anymore. It's the only way to keep your head up long enough to actually see what's working.
→ Nobody wants more tactics. They want fewer moving parts that don't require babysitting.
The thing I keep coming back to is this - the founder I'm thinking of didn't need a better playbook. She needed to stop running somebody else's. Once she started saying the weird specific true thing about her own work, the replies changed. Not overnight, but they changed.
Which is a long way of saying, if the standard plays aren't landing for ya right now, that might not be you doing it wrong. That might be the signal.
What's the one piece of advice you've quietly stopped following? Curious what people are dropping.
If ya want the short worksheet I built for this exact thing - the questions that help you find your own version - comment CUSTOM VOICE WORKSHEET and I'll send it over.
