In brief
A founder I like told me last Tuesday he was "just staying on top of things." I watched him answer three emails during our thirty minute call. Same shape twice more this week. Different people, different businesses, same quiet hum underneath the words.

A founder I like told me last Tuesday he was "just staying on top of things." I watched him answer three emails during our thirty minute call.
Same shape twice more this week. Different people, different businesses, same quiet hum underneath the words.
And I want to say the real thing here, because I think it costs more than we admit:
What's being read in the first call? Not the offer. Not the price. Whether you'll still be standing when they need you.
-> Can this person be here in six months
-> Or is this the version of them that burns out by spring
-> Does the calm in their voice match the pace they're running
I didn't get this for a long time. I thought buyers wanted "hungry." Thought they could feel the hustle and trust it. (Most wanted the opposite.)
The shift isn't a rebrand. It isn't a new funnel. It's the pace you'll sustain.
One good week doesn't sell. Twelve steady months of showing up the same way does.
The part that surprised me - the work didn't change for any of them... they just stopped running it like the last lap of a race that never ends.
The people I've watched win aren't the loudest. They're the ones who look like they'll still be here.
Want the checklist I run through when I catch myself running hot? Comment STEADY PACE CHECKLIST and I'll send it over.
